About Us

Emily Saenz, DMA

Dr. Emily Saenz is the Head Choir Director at Benbrook Middle-High School in Ft. Worth ISD.  Emily regularly clinics choirs around the DFW metroplex, and has presented at national conferences including TMEA, TCDA, SWACDA, DCMEA, UMEA, and CEDFA. In 2021 she was awarded "The Friedman Chair for Teaching Excellence in Performing Arts". Emily served as the Soprano Section leader for the Texas All State Small School Choir at the TMEA Convention in 2023. In 2025, her Treble Chamber Choir “24” performed at the TMEA Convention as an Invited Choir.

In addition to her work at Benbrook, Emily partners with the Education Department of the Metropolitan Opera to create opera-centered classroom content for teachers around the globe. In her role as a “Met Opera Master Teacher” she presents annually at the Metropolitan Opera Educators Convention, where teachers from around the country explore the benefits of using opera in their classrooms. Locally, Emily spearheads the Metropolitan Opera’s Partnership with Fort Worth ISD, bringing hundreds of students to watch the opera live in HD at a local movie theater each opera season.

Emily holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from The University of Oklahoma, a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from The University of Louisville, and a Doctorate of Music Arts in Voice from The University of Texas at Austin.

Carlos Saenz, M.M.

Carlos Saenz currently works as a Production Assistant at V1 Produtions - a full-spectrum multimedia post-production house, based in Dallas, Texas. He maintains a robust schedule as a freelance audio engineer and technician.

 

Saenz previously worked in public education for nine years. He has worked for Fort Worth ISD and Keller ISD. Most recently, he has served as the Head Choir Director at Fossil Ridge H.S. in Fort Worth, Texas. As an educator, Saenz had several TMEA all-staters during his tenure, his choirs earned consistent UIL sweepstakes, and performed by invitation with Texas Christian University, The University of North Texas, The University of Texas at Dallas, Texas Wesleyan University, and Fort Worth Chorale, with whom he also served as a board member. In 2025, the Fossil Ridge H.S. Varsity Mixed Choir, earned the caption of “Reserve Grand Champions“ at the annual Festival Di Voce in Dallas, Texas.

As a performer, Saenz has performed in concert with the TMEA All-State Mixed Choir, Fort Worth Chorale, Texas Wesleyan University, San Antonio Opera, Nevada Opera, Martina Arroyo's Prelude to Performance, Opera in the Ozarks, Cathedral Arts Choral Artists, and Incarnatus.

Carlos holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from The University of Texas at San Antonio and a Master of Music from Texas State University.
